About PPN

Aims

  • To draw together performers and teachers to practice and discuss pedagogy

  • To build solidarity and support within a community of practice

  • To foreground and critically reinvigorate pedagogy as a practice and research field in its own right

  • To explore hosting as a practice in building the network

  • To develop methodologies for research in performance pedagogies

  • To mentor, nurture, inspire and nourish practitioners at all stages of their careers

  • To share good practice as part of continuing professional development

  • To archive and map pedagogies through multiple media

What it is not:

  • Not a research centre

  • No output expectation

  • Not peer reviewed

  • A therapeutic resource

What it can be:

  • A network for embodied knowledge exchange with potential for personal, professional and practical impact

  • A network that celebrates and maps voices and practices that have been side-lined

  • A way to raise the visibility of practical wisdom (phronesis)

  • A place to share expertise and knowledge about how training can reproduce dangerous normatives

  • A space of solidarity and support
